Birlin Birlin (above) by Allery Sandy of Yinjaa-Barni Art is the feature piece for this exhibition.

“Long ago, Law Ceremony started on the top end of the Fortescue river. It’s a place called Birlin Birlin. Today, the Yindjibarndi tribe go to the law ground every year and still carry the Birda ceremony, sharing with other tribes.

At the Birlin Birlin, where it all began, you can see where the dance began, the morning star and the footprints in the rock. Many have seen this place. The Elders that tell the story have walked in this country with their families. Passing on these stories keeps us strong and our culture alive.”
